Privacy Policy

Nexus is built on a simple promise: your conversations are yours. This policy explains exactly what data we collect when you use Nexus, what happens when your messages reach our AI providers, and how you stay in control of everything tied to your account.

We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. We do not read your private chats. Where third parties are involved (sign-in, AI providers, payments), we name them explicitly below.

Section 1

Data We Collect

Nexus collects only what is necessary to operate your account and deliver your companion experience:

  • Account Information:Your email address, display name, and profile picture provided by Google when you sign in. We never see or store your Google password.
  • Companion Data:The characters you create (name, personality, backstory, system prompt, voice selection, face preset, art tweaks, reference photos for Pro users) and any chat history with them.
  • Generated Media:Avatars, selfies, and album images generated by you, stored on our managed object storage tied to your user ID.
  • Usage Telemetry:Daily message, voice, and image counts are logged in rolling 24-hour buckets to enforce fair-use rate limits.
  • Network Information:Your last-known IP address and a bounded IP history (most-recent first) for fraud prevention, ban enforcement, and abuse investigations.

AI Interactions

Your conversations are private — but to deliver replies, your messages are processed by third-party AI providers:

  • Text Generation:Your message, the companion's system prompt, and recent chat history are sent to our language-model providers for inference. Responses come back to you and are stored in your chat history.
  • Image Generation:Avatar and selfie prompts (and Pro-tier reference photos when used for image-to-image) are sent to our image-generation provider. Generated images are returned and stored in your account.
  • Voice Calls:Your microphone audio is transcribed by a speech-to-text provider, the transcription is processed by our language-model providers, and the reply is synthesized as audio by our text-to-speech provider — or by ElevenLabs if you (a Pro user) supplied your own ElevenLabs API key.
  • Provider Retention:These providers may temporarily process your prompts to deliver a response, subject to their own data policies. Nexus does not authorize them to use your conversations for model training.
  • What We Don't Read:Nexus staff do not browse, monitor, or read your individual chats. Conversations are only ever surfaced if a moderation flag, abuse report, or legal request requires investigation of a specific account.

How We Use Your Data

  • Operate the Service:Authenticate you, deliver chat replies, generate images, render your dashboard, and synchronize your subscription tier.
  • Enforce the Rules of Engagement:Apply moderation actions (flag, mute, suspend, ban) when our rules are violated. Banned accounts have data retained for 30 days to prevent ban evasion.
  • Improve Quality:Aggregated, non-identifying analytics (total messages per day, top companions, signup trends) help us prioritize features. We do not sell your data, run ads, or share personal data with marketing partners.
  • Process Payments:Subscription billing is handled entirely by Stripe. Nexus never receives or stores your full card number, CVC, or banking details.

Cookies & Local Storage

  • Session Cookie:A single httpOnly, secure cookie keeps you signed in across visits. It contains a random session token tied to your account.
  • Local Storage:Used briefly to round-trip your Rules of Engagement acceptance through Google sign-in, and to remember UI preferences (e.g., active tab in Companion Studio). No tracking pixels, no third-party advertising cookies.

Your Rights & Controls

  • Access & Export:Email us to request a full export of your account data, including all chat history.
  • Delete a Companion:Deleting a character from your dashboard removes its messages, avatar, reference photo (Pro), and album from our systems.
  • Delete Your Account:Email us to permanently delete your account. We will erase your profile, companions, messages, generated media, and rate-limit history. Encrypted ElevenLabs API keys (if any) are wiped.
  • Revoke Proactive Engagement:Toggle off Proactive messages anytime from Billing → Engagement. Companions will stop sending unprompted messages immediately.
  • Bring-Your-Own-Key:Pro users may save an encrypted ElevenLabs API key. The plaintext key never leaves the backend after the save call. You can replace or remove it at any time from Billing → ElevenLabs.

  • Questions or Requests:Reach the Nexus team through the support address listed on the marketing page or the in-app billing settings.
  • Policy Changes:If we make material changes to this policy, we'll post the updated version here and surface a notice in-app the next time you sign in.
